About

Marios Fokas is a young economist, consultant and youth advocate applying systems thinking and complexity economics to accelerate the transition toward regenerative, mission-oriented economies. He combines technical depth in machine learning, AI applications, integrated modelling, systems thinking + design, trade and finance with hands-on experience building and scaling ventures that embed impact and sustainability into core business logic. His early-career bridges the worlds of policy, enterprise, and innovation. He has driven decarbonisation strategy in oil and gas, built ESG and compliance tooling, architected blockchain-based asset tokenisation platforms, and managed research and programmes for a philanthropic ClimateTech accelerator. Through roles spanning the Grantham Institute (Imperial College), OGCI Climate Investments, and advisory work via chambers of commerce, he has developed deep familiarity with how capital flows, regulatory environments, and institutional incentives either enable or constrain climate action. A passionate advocate for youth agency in systems transformation, he is the Vice Curator of the WEF Global Shapers London Hub 1. He holds an MSc in Economics & Policy of Energy and the Environment from UCL, an MSc in Economics + Strategy from Imperial College Business School, and a BSc in Economics and Management Science from the University of Southampton. Based in London with strong ties to Greece, Italy, Mediterranean and Balkan professional networks. Affiliations: - Global Shapers London Hub 1 - Vice-Curator - Hellenic Youth Council - Member of Committee on Environment and Climate Change - Youth Climate Diplomacy Member (Policy, Research p, Engagement) - Youth Economy Lab - Review Board Lead, Lecturer and Facilitator - Advisor and Committee Member of Innovation and Entrepreneurship @ Hellenic-Italian Chamber of Commerce
